Bhendyachi Bhaji is the dry veg prepared in Goan style. Bhendo is lady's finger or okra. It can be served as a side dish with dal and rice.
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
- Bhende - 1/4 kg
- Coconut (scrapped) - 2 tbsp
- Green chillies (slit) - 1 to 2
- Tamarind pulp - 2 to 3 tsp
- Sugar - 3/4 tsp
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/3 tsp
- Asafoetida - 1/3 tsp
- Salt to taste
Procedure:
- Wash bhende and pat dry them. Chop them, discard both the ends.
- Heat oil in kadai and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add asafoetida and green chilly.
- Add chopped bhende and stir fry for half a minute.
- Let it cook on low flame for 2 to 3 min without water.
- Add tamarind pulp and salt.
- Sprinkle little water, mix well and cook it covered on low flame.
- When almost done, add coconut and sugar.
- Serve it as a side dish with dal and steamed rice.
