Split Wheat Halwa


Sweet dish made from split wheat with mango flavour.

Serves: 4
Ingredients:
  1. Split wheat (lapsi rawa) - 1 cup
  2. Sugar - 1 cup
  3. Milk - 1 cup
  4. Water - 3 cups
  5. Mango pulp (fresh/canned) - 3 tbsp
  6. Ghee - 4 tbsp
  7. Pineapple essence - 1/4 tsp
  8. Edible Saffron colour - a pinch
  9. Salt - a pinch
  10. Dry fruits for garnishing.
Procedure:
  • Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a thick bottomed pan.
  • Add split wheat and stir fry till it gives out aroma.
  • Boil water and milk together.
  • Add it to the split wheat; cover and cook on low flame.
  • Once it gets almost cooked and dries; add sugar, mango pulp, salt and colour dissolved in water.
  • Mix well and simmer for 5 -7 min.
  • Add remaining ghee and pineapple essence.
  • Put off the flame.
  • Mix well and keep it covered for sometime. (It will be dry after sometime)
  • Garnish with dry fruits and serve.
