Ingredients:
- Masoor - 1cup
- Onion (sliced) - 2 medium size
- Tomato (chopped) - 1 medium size
- Corriander leaves (chopped) - 1.5 tsp
- Crushed garlic - 5-7 cloves
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds - a pinch
- Hing- a pinch
- Turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp
- Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
- Tamarind pulp - 1 tsp
- Kolhapuri masala/ kanda lasun masala/ garam masala - 1 tsp
- Oil - 1.5 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Procedure:
- Wash and soak masoor for at least 2 hours.
- Cook masoor and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a cooking pan or wok.
- Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- Add hing, garlic and onion.
- Stir fry onion till it turns golden brown.
- Add turmeric powder and tomato.
- Stir fry til tomato gets cooked.
- Add masala and chilly powder, stir fry for a few seconds.
- Add cooked masoor, tamarind pulp and salt to taste.
- Mix well, add approx. 1/2 cup water.
- Simmer for 2-3 mins.
- Garnish with corriander leaves.
- Serve hot with chapati or bhakari
