Paavtyachi/ Aavryachi Usal (Field Beans Curry)




Ingredients:
  1. Fresh Aavre - 1.5 cup
  2. Coconut (scrapped) - 1/2 cup
  3. Green chillies (chopped/slit)- 2
  4. Mustard seeds - 1/3 tsp
  5. Hing - 1/3 tsp
  6. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  7. Garam masala/ Goda masala - 1/2 tsp
  8. Chilly powder - 1/4 tsp
  9. Pepper powder - a pinch
  10. Oil - 1.5 tsp
  11. Jaggery (grated) - 1 to 2 tsp
  12. Corriander leaves (chopped) - 1.5 tsp
  13. Salt to taste
Procedure:
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds, let them splutter.
  • Add hing, turmeric powder, green chillies and garam masala.
  • Add aavre and stir fry for a few seconds.
  • Add chilly powder, pepper powder, coconut and salt.
  • Add water and pressure cook till 2 whistles.
  • Add jaggery and cook for a min, add water if necessary.
  • Garnish with corriander leaves.
  • Serve with chapati.
Tip:
If you use dried aavre/paavta/field beans, then you have to soak them for at least 8 hrs, drain, sprout, again soak for 8 to 10 hrs and remove the peels.
