Malvani Batata Vatana Rassa


Ingredients:
  1. Potato (cubed) - 2 medium size
  2. Fresh peas - 3/4 - 1 cup
  3. Onion (chopped) - 1 medium size, (sliced) - 1small size
  4. Scrapped coconut - 2-3 tbsp
  5. Tamarind pulp - 1 tbsp
  6. Malvani garam masala - 1.5 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  8. Kashmiri mirchi - 1
  9. Star anise - 1 petal
  10. Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  11. Oil - 2 tbsp
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Coriander leaves (chopped) for garnishing


Procedure:
  • Heat oil in a wok and add star anise.
  • Fry till it gives aroma and keep it aside.
  • Fry kashmiri mirchi and keep it aside.
  • Add sliced onion and fry till golden brown.
  • Add scrapped coconut to it and stir fry till it turns brown.
  • Grind it by adding star anise, kashmiri mirchi and water.
  • Keep the paste aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and fry chopped onion till translucent.
  • Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp malvani masala, potatoes and peas.
  • Mix well.
  • Add water and salt.
  • Once it gets cooked, add 1 tsp malvani masala and tamarind pulp.
  • Add ground paste and required quantity of water.
  • Simmer for 3-5 min.
  • Garnish with coriander.
  • Serve with chapati or bhakari.
