Gajar Ka Halwa


Indian dessert made from carrots.

Serves: 3 to 4

Ingredients:

  1. Carrots (grated)  - 1/2 kg
  2. Pure ghee - 2 tbsp
  3. Boiled milk - 1 cup
  4. Khoya/ condensed milk/ malai - 3 - 4 tbsp
  5. Sugar - 8-9 tbsp
  6. Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp (optional)
  7. Cashew nut pieces - 2 tbsp
  8. Almonds for garnish
Procedure:
  • Heat pure ghee in a cooking pan and add carrot, stir fry.
  • Add 1 cup boiled milk and cook till it gets dried. 
  • Now add condensed milk/ khoya/ malai and cashew nuts, stir for 5 min. 
  • Now add sugar and cook for 5 min. 
  • Take it off the fire.
  • Add cardamom powder, mix well. 
  • Garnish with grated almonds.
  • Serve hot or at room tamperature.
Tip:
  • If you are using condensed milk, then sugar required will be 7 tbsp.
  • If you want to make it more rich, use more khoya.
